Transferring a .pk domain (including .com.pk, .net.pk, .org.pk, etc.) works differently from transferring a .com or .net domain. There is no EPP/authorization code — PKNIC requires physical, signed documentation mailed to their office. This guide explains exactly what's needed.
If you're registering a brand-new .pk domain instead, see How to Register a .PK Domain: Step-by-Step Guide instead.
Required Documents
The exact documents depend on whether a company or an individual owns the domain.
If the Domain Belongs to a Company/Organization
- Authorization letter — signed by the CEO, Director, or Head of the company (not a domain agent or technical contact), on official company letterhead with the company seal. The letter must state both the current PKNIC account ID the domain is being transferred from, and Visioning Cloud's PKNIC account ID it's being transferred to.
- A clear copy of the signing authority's CNIC.
- An affidavit is additionally required if the registrant name doesn't match the name on the letterhead — stating the factual position and explaining the mismatch. This must be on Rs. 100 stamp paper, attested by an oath commissioner.
If the Domain Is Owned by an Individual
- An affidavit — signed with complete contact details (name, address, phone), stating the transfer request and specifying both the current and destination PKNIC account IDs. If registrant information doesn't match, the affidavit must explain the discrepancy. Must be on Rs. 100 stamp paper, attested by an oath commissioner.
- A clear copy of the CNIC of the domain owner (signatory).
Step 1: Get Visioning Cloud's PKNIC Account ID
Open a support ticket or log in to your client portal and request our PKNIC account ID. You'll need to include this in your authorization letter/affidavit as the destination account.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
Use the required format above based on whether the domain is registered to a company or an individual. Scanned copies are not accepted by PKNIC — original signed documents must be mailed.
Step 3: Mail the Original Documents to PKNIC
Send the original signed documents by post to PKNIC's collection address. Contact PKNIC support team ([email protected]) for the current verified mailing address before sending anything — PKNIC's listed address has changed in the past, and mailing to an outdated address will delay your transfer.
Step 4: Verification & Processing
Once PKNIC receives your documents, they verify them by phone. Processing typically takes 3–4 business days after verification — plan accordingly, since incomplete documents or unreachable contact numbers will cause delays.
Step 5: Email Confirmation
The current domain owner (or their registrar) will be asked to consent to the transfer, and the receiving account may need to accept the incoming request via email.
Important Notes
- A domain can only be transferred if it is not expired. If your
.pkdomain has already lapsed, see What Happens If My .PK Domain Expires? first. - Scanned images are not accepted — only original mailed documents.
- For registrars based outside Pakistan, a transfer/authorization code process may be available at PKNIC's discretion — check with our support team if this applies to your situation.
